SIAL 2016 and Health Ingredients Europe

Wednesday 07 December 2016

Over the past months Organic Herb Trading has visited Health Ingredients Europe, SIAL 2016 –the ‘worlds largest food innovation exhibition’ and NOPE Scandinavia.
SIAL 2016 is an enormous show that gives Organic Herb Trading the opportunity to meet with customers and suppliers from across the globe who are either exhibiting or attending, and provides an opportunity to explore specialist ingredients and new supply chains that we are considering for potential projects in the future. The vast halls are laid out by country, enabling us to taste some of the finest Matcha from Japan followed closely by discussing Indian spices such as Turmeric and Ginger with producers the next.
SIAL provides a chance to try new products and to observe potential trends, such as the bold marketing of a novel range of iced Rooibos teas from South Africa, along with the stark size and scale of the heavily processed confectionery and snacking industry - no mention of obesity or health to be seen! Organic makes up only a tiny proportion of the show but there was a good showing of UK organic brands as part of a heavily Government supported UK pavilion, designed to showcase products to the global export markets which continue to account for the significant growth for many in the organic sector.
In October Mike Brook, Organic Herb Trading’s Founder Director, also headed to Germany for the Health Ingredients Europe show to spend some time sourcing new herbs and spices and to meet with potential new customers.

Earlier in November, our International Accounts Manager Sarah Beasley-Stones wrapped up warm for a trip to Malmo in Sweden for Natural Products Scandinavia. We are working with an increasing number of Scandinavian clients and it was a great opportunity to meet with some familiar faces, and also to discover some of the ever-increasing brands that have established themselves over the past couple of years. Over the next 10 years, growth in the organic sector is expected to double in the Nordics and we look forward to being a part of it!
