Organic Herb Trading at Natural & Organic Products Europe

Thursday 14 April 2016

Next week sees the Natural & Organic Products Europe show come to the UK. We’re really excited to talk to new customers and old friends about our worldwide sourcing of the best organic herbs, spices, botanicals and superfoods.

Visitors to stand M20 will see a map of the world on which 31 certified organic products are highlighted. We work with growers, harvesters and co-operatives to help support local communities and develop product quality and sustainability. This can range from committing to FairWild, Fairtrade or Fair for Life sourcing, to funding water source improvements and providing on-the-ground training in organic farming methods.

Mike Brook, Founder Director of Organic Herb Trading said ahead of NOPE: "Building long-standing partnerships with suppliers and customers is at the heart of what we do at Organic Herb Trading.  These relationships really benefit everyone and enable us to source the very best products from around the world, whilst at the same time contributing to sustainable investment in the communities that we work with – investments that really make a difference to people’s lives.  NOPE is a great opportunity for us to meet with our suppliers and customers, and talk about some of the projects we’re working on - I’m really looking forward to this year’s event.”

One example of the focus that Organic Herb Trading places on fostering relationships is our recent partnership with B'Ayoba. The team works in partnership with the Zimbabwean company to bring their excellent quality organic baobab powder to the European market at highly competitive prices.  B’Ayoba are a leading source of baobab products, ethically and sustainably wild-harvested by rural producer communities in Zimbabwe, and processed locally for maximum freshness and product quality.

Harvesting baobab has a huge positive impact on local communities. Many families in these rural communities live on very little, and by harvesting baobab, people are able to greatly increase their incomes, and collectors working with B’Ayoba receive double the minimum wage. Baobab can be used in powder or oil form and is widely known to for its high nutritional value, being a rich source of antioxidants, vitamin C, calcium, iron, magnesium, potassium and fibre. Baobab’s unique flavour, texture and nutritional content makes it a fantastic addition to a wide range of products – from snack bars to smoothies – or a key component of any superfoods range.

Please get in touch if you are attending Natural & Organic Products in London on 17-18 April and would like to meet up with a member of the team.
