Brexit update

Tuesday 17 September 2019

We know nobody really wants to talk about it... but Brexit might be around the corner. We have discussed Brexit-specific supply planning with many of you already, to ensure we work together to meet your ongoing manufacturing supply requirements, however, please do get in contact with our team if you have additional requirements not yet discussed with us.

As part of our planning for 31 October and any temporary delays that may arise to organic imports, we have increased our already strong stock holding, and we have taken on additional warehousing space within the last month to facilitate this.

There remains a level of uncertainty as to the exact documentation requirements for movements of organic goods across borders post-Brexit, however, Soil Association Certification have recently received a UK government grant to provide up-to-date information to the whole UK organic sector about Brexit preparations and documentation for imports and exports post-Brexit. We would recommend bookmarking their “Brexit Hub” for latest updates.

At Organic Herb Trading we have a wide portfolio of certifications and approvals already in place and a highly-experienced team working on our organic imports and exports, which mean we are well-placed to move forward as quickly as possible:

 - Our portfolio of certifications is online here, including NOP certification with Control Union for export to locations outside the EU who require approval to export to the USA
- We utilise TRACES daily for organic imports and participated in Defra’s UK-only “TRACES” system trial for post-Brexit use.

- We are registered with the FDA as a Foreign Food Facility (FFR), the Korean FDA (KFDA) and also with London Chamber of Commerce for access necessary export documentation.

- We are registered to use Transitional Simplified Procedures for EU imports in the case of a no deal Brexit.

Do get in contact with our team if you have additional requirements not yet discussed with us on +44 (0) 1823 401 205 or
